UEFA Champions League hopefuls Arsenal FC have been dealt a blow with the news that Togo international striker Emmanuel Adebayor will miss their Premiership visit to Sheffield United FC on Saturday because of a thigh strain. The 21-year-old, who has scored six goals in 17 league appearances for Arsenal this season, sustained the injury in the second half of the London club's 2-1 victory against Watford FC on Tuesday. He had only just returned from a three-week period on the sidelines with the same problem on the other leg.
The news is a further set-back for the club, who are already missing captain Thierry Henry because of a sciatic nerve problem. Better news concerns defender Johan Djourou however, who is expected to feature at Bramall Lane despite also picking up a thigh injury. Arsenal are currently third in the Premiership and will play PSV Eindhoven in the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League next year.
